While people in some parts of the world are getting used to paying for plastic bags (a slap on the wrist for using such things), Florida is considering making them illegal. A proposed ban on disposable paper and plastic bags is being mulled over by government officials in a state that feels the need to protect its beauty and biological diversity.
Whether at work or school, we are slaves to that mortal need to consume food as soon as our stomachs tell us it’s mid-day. Sometimes we can’t get through all the packaging fast enough for our expectant taste buds or eager bellies.
It’s ironic that we still have to address littering in the 21st century, at a time when we’re battling to preserve the very existence of the planet. As unbelievable as it is (unless you look around at sidewalks and streets), littering has long been a blight to society and continues to be one.
