Is a recession always bad? For those whose lives have been deeply impacted by it, such as by losing a job, there is no denying it can be a traumatic and unwelcome experience. For others, though, a recession can prod them towards a less wasteful and more realistic course of life.

Last spring, the Ontario government revealed it would be allocating funds for improving more than 1000 public schools, making them a greener place to learn. In time for the imminent ‘return to class’ season, some changes will have already taken place as construction was slated to start this summer.

It just may be that landing a green job is the best opportunity available right now. While we’re still not sure of exactly what all a green job entails, one thing we do know – many of them pay well. According to a Reuters survey, the average green collar worker makes $76,000 per year.
