Jump your way to a greener lifestyle. At least that’s what designers Hyun Joo Lee and Eu Tteum Lee want you to do. They have developed a prototype skipping rope that features a LED flashlight built into one of its handles. It then converts the boundless energy of your daily workout into electricity. Ridiculous? Some think so. How convenient would it be if the power went out and you needed a flashlight only to discover you’ve missed your exercise routine for the past three months? At least now you’ll have extra motivation to lose those calories. Stick to your regimen or face the consequences – no flashlight! On the bright side, no batteries are needed. The kinetic energy of your jumping is simply converted into electric energy.
Technicalities aside, this kind of “out of the box” thinking is just what we need to help meet the challenges the environment faces. And who knows, a few extra benefits may come from it. We may be fit enough for that bathing suit by the time summer gets here after all.

Great find! Perfect way to teach kids about going green and help them to do some exercise!
I could generate and sell energy with my six year old daughter and her skipping rope. A skipping rope is also a great thing to take camping with the kids.
I agree that this type of thinking will move us forward to a more sustainable life style. Not everyone will like every idea, but so what.
I think kids would love this. Not only would it be a blast to play with but it’s also a great way to teach them about science and technology. And your right, using it for camping is a fantastic idea! I didn’t even think of that…
Love this little skipping rope.
Hi Diana,
The real question is…. where can I get one?
