Turns out it’s Waste Reduction Week for Canada. While every week of the year is a good time to reduce, reuse and recycle, this week brings the three R’s into the spotlight with chief spokesperson being none other than Oscar the Grouch.
Yes, this childhood icon was again solicited to help reach the younger population especially and raise awareness of the need to set waste-free goals.
He even agreed (rather amicably) to sit down with the host of CBC’s program Q, Jian Ghomeshi, and elaborated on his love for trash (pretty obvious considering he lives in a trashcan) and also confessed that he is a big fan of recycling. Of course, this makes him happy, but, being a grouch, being happy makes him miserable, and of course being miserable makes him happy… and the conundrum continues…
We aren’t likely to have this problem. In fact, we’ll all be a whole lot happier if we continue to reduce, reuse and recycle. The inspiration to ‘waste not’ is overwhelming. If a grouchy, crabby little muppet, whom we all know and love, can do it, why can’t we? Now, scram! And have a rotten Waste Reduction Week, or what’s left of it.

Hi Clinton!
Thanks for spreading the word on Waste Reduction Week!
I would love to exchange links, but you will have to explain how I go about it because I’m a bit of a luddite!
